You may have seen a Twitter Feed on a website and wondered what it was all about. Maybe you feel as if you just don’t need it. Let me reassure you that, as an educator, you DO need Twitter. Twitter provides a wonderful and rich Personal Learning Network (PLN) that is unparalleled. Where else can you meet up with people from all over the world who have an incredible amount of knowledge that you can use to improve your craft? Where else can you pose a question to an infinite number of people and receive responses almost immediately? Where else can you meet others that are experts in the things you are interested in without spending a cent? So, here are a few tips for you:

Do you want to work mostly at your own pace and only spend a few hours a week on coursework? Then you should check out a MOOC! MOOC stands for Massively Online Open Course. NC State offers many of these through the Friday Institute. Go to http://www.mooc-ed.org/ for more information! I started my second MOOC-Ed (Massively Online Open Course) this week. The first time I did two weeks and just couldn't keep up with it. I didn't like the experience, even though I am not only familiar with online learning, but also with online teaching. The first course came at an extremely busy time for me and I just couldn't complete it.
Now I find myself taking "Coaching Digital Learning" and the experience is great! The new Instructional Technology folks at the Friday Institute have really done a nice job with this one.
